3soteric Promotions presents live kickboxing and Muay Thai this Sunday, July 22nd beginning at 3 pm. “Mind and Body Clash 1” takes place at the Pond Arena in Mound, Minnesota and will feature 11 matches using a mix of K1, Glory, International Kickboxing, and Muay Thai rules.

“Overall I am pleased with the card”, said promoter and matchmaker Merrick Morlan. “The weigh-in’s should be unique since we are doing them on the main stage during the Spirit of the Lakes Festival on Saturday.”

The main event of the night features a showdown for the inaugural Mind and Body Clash featherweight chris collinstitle. Minnesota fighter Chris Collins will battle Brandol Mendoza of California with the winner also earning a shot at an IKF National title on a later date.
The co-featured professional fight has Minnesota’s Derek Varin taking on Lion Fight veteran Ben Peak. Varin is transitioning from MMA where he holds a professional record of (5-3) to Muay Thai.

A respected mixed martial artist and kickboxer, Chris Collins hails from Two Harbors, Minnesota near the Duluth area. He trains and sharpens his skills at The Warriors of the North Boxing Gym in Cloquet, MN. Collins says that although the gym is an hour from his home, he will do anything to train there with his coach. Collins has competed for nearly all of the Midwest’s top promotions including Legacy Fighting Alliance, Driller Promotions, King of the Cage, Savage Entertainment, and more.

“I have been fighting for four years (MMA) and training in Muay Thai for about the same amount of time. I started fighting as soon as I started training and got into the sport because I love to fight and compete. There is nothing like fighting. For this camp, I feel like this is the best shape I have ever been in. I have trained so hard for this fight, tweaked some things, and fixed my mistakes. I feel very ready for this fight and hope to put on a great show.”
“What I know about my opponent is that he is strong kicker and pretty good boxer. I know he likes to walk people down and control the fight. The Fans should expect an exciting, high paced fight between two undefeated fighters. I’d like to say thank you to 3soteric Promotions for this oppurtunity and I hope the fans enjoy the show. Keep your eyes open becauseyou never know what will happen.”

Brandol Mendoza is a Muay Thai champion making the trip up to Minnesota from Pasadena, California. Brandol MendozaHe says he started Muay Thai because he was always getting into fights and trouble in his younger days. Following the advice of his oldest sister, Mendoza began training at Sityodtong LA and was hooked. The 24-year old says that he has held the International Amateur Muay Thai Federation belt, International Kickboxing Federation State and Regional titles, defended the International Fight Sports title four times and also won the IKF World amateur title, all at 125 pounds. Unlike Collins, Mendoza told MN Fight News that he is strictly a striker and would also like to get into boxing if given the chance.

“I don’t know anything about Chris”, said Mendoza. “I haven’t really looked him up or anything. I dont really like doing that because every fighter and fight is different. The fans should expect a really exciting and technical fight from me. I always like having good technique and I’m an overall good kickboxer and boxer so this fight should be fun. I really don’t have much to say, I’m just really excited to travel to different states and do what I love. So this should be a good showing for all of the Minnesota fight fans!”

The Pond Arena is located at 2121 Commerce Blvd in Mound, Minnesota. 3soteric Promotions will be streaming the fights live on their Youtube channel here. The follow up show will be at the Medina Entertainment Center on October 5th, 2018.
