MinnesotaBoxing.com is finally here!!

It took me a while to get this all together, but its finally up! As you can see there is still a lot of work to be done. My goal is to eventually provide a place to go to find out all the Minnesota boxing news, both professional and amateur. Most of my professional coverage can first be seen at Fightnews.com immediately following the shows. MinnesotaBoxing.com gives me a place to also include our amateur boxing scene to go along with the professional scene. This is a place for fighters, trainers, family, or fans to come and get the latest news. I am just getting this started, and need all the help I can get! If you have any info or can help in anyway please contact Jesse Kelley at Princenaseem13@yahoo.com.

Although Corn was shut out on all judges score cards (60-54) it turned out to be the best fight of the night. Both men landed some nice shots while taunting and clowing with each other. The other half of the co-feature had 6’9, 270 heavyweight Tye Fields of Des Moines, Iowa knocking out 7’1, 265 Julius Long at 1:11 of the third round. Vanda and Hurtado win at the Armory!

Unbeaten jr middleweight Matt Vanda of Saint Paul’s East Side improved his record to (29-0, 20 KOs) Friday night in St. Paul, MN by knocking out Wayne Boudreaux (28-26-1) of Marrero, LA in round four. Vanda looked very sharp and accurate with his punches, frustrating Boudreaux with good movement. Boudreaux was never intimidated by the busier Vanda and did show up to fight, but just couldn’t seem to put together much offence of his own, fighting defensively most of the fight. In other action, former WBA super lightweight champion Diobelys Hurtado (36-3-1, 24 KOs) made his debut as a full fledged Welterweight a successful one by knocking out Rudy Lovato (19-27). Also winning in impressive fashion was prospect Mohammed Kayongo of Kampala, Uganda now (7-0, 6 KOs) as he busted up and stopped tough Mark Norge of Pittsburgh, PA. Click here to READ MORE 10/18/03
